O IMPACTO DO ENSINO RELIGIOSO NA PREVENÇÃO DO BULLYING NA FORMA DE RACISMO RELIGIOSO NAS ESCOLAS PÚBLICAS BRASILEIRAS: PERCURSO NECESSÁRIO PARA O CONVÍVIO COM AS DIFERENÇAS EM UM PROCESSO DE ALTERIDADE

Abstract

This research aims to understand the impact of Religious Education (RE) in preventing bullying in the form of religious racism within the context of Brazilian public schools. The general objective is to assess the potential of RE, based on its specific competencies established in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), as a tool to confront this type of school violence. The research is structured into three main chapters. The first chapter addresses the origin and concept of bullying, recognizing it as a contemporary, recurrent, and harmful phenomenon, especially in public schools. It analyzes its various manifestations, legal aspects, and the negative impacts it causes in students’ lives, with emphasis on religious intolerance as a specific form of bullying. The second chapter discusses the role of Religious Education in confronting bullying, considering its historical and legal trajectory within Brazilian education, and explores how pedagogical practices can contribute to addressing the issue. The discussion is anchored in the specific competencies of the subject, as outlined in the BNCC. Finally, the third chapter presents the professional proposal of the research, focused on promoting otherness in the school environment, highlighting Religious Education teachers as strategic agents in the mediation and prevention of religious bullying. The choice of theme stems from the researcher’s concerns about the persistence of religious racism in schools and the urgent need to foster respect for diversity through education. The study adopted bibliographic and documentary research methodologies, aiming to contribute to an education committed to human rights, dignity, and ethical coexistence with differences.
