RELIGIÃO E SERVIÇO SOCIAL: UM ESTUDO DE CASO NA FUNDAÇÃO BENEFICENTE DA PRAIA DO CANTO (FBPC) NO MUNICIPIO DE VITÓRIA/ES

Abstract

This research sets out to present a field study at Praia do Canto Beneficent Foundation, consisting on the relationship between Religion and Social Service. The relevance regarding the professional praxis concerning social work in the field of the Science of Religion is essential, implemented in a Third Sector Institution, expressing religious and social ethical values, in a community that is fill by the denial of social rights. Given the complexities based on the relationship between Religion and Social Service, this research investigated the possibility of dialogue an awareness on professional Social Worker in a Religious Institution. The focus was to investigate the professional practice of the Social Worker when facing social issues in a charity institution originated from the Baptist Church, inserted in the Peripheral Region on the Capital of Espírito Santo. Thereafter, exceed in historicizing the constitution of the Baptist Church in Brazil, culminating in the organization of the Baptist Church at Praia do Canto as the creator of the PCFB project in the São Pedro Region. Later presented the legislation of Social Service in the country and its guidelines for professional performance linked to the Third Sector. Concluded in investigatory appropriation through empirical research with the managers, the project´s professional social worker, as well as professionals from other areas and those assisted with their families. Opt for the science of applied religion (SAR), established as the practical science of religion, the mediation of SAR with Social Service, dialoguing with other areas, especially the Science of Religion, in favor of raising awareness of human existence expressed in social policy. The study resort to empirical field research as a tool for methodological procedures, as well as the questionnaire technique for interviewing professionals from the Institution, also applying it to those assisted and their families. It was determine that given the difficulties of dialogue and awareness, it was possible to find intersectoriality in the actions of the Social Worker with other Religious Institutional areas.
