dc.description.abstractThis study aimed to analyze the influence of spirituality as a support for coping with cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at the São José Cancer Institute, integrated with the São José do Avaí Hospital, in the city of Itaperuna / RJ. The sample consisted of 18 male patients undergoing chemotherapy. The instrument for data collection consisted of a structured questionnaire, first analyzing the sociodemographic characteristics, then the aspects related to the disease and, finally, the Duke Religiousness Scale (DUREL) was applied. In this study, each of the scales was correlated with sociodemographic variables, and it was found that the indices were significantly influenced by age, education and income.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoEste estudo teve por objetivo analisar a influência da espiritualidade como apoio ao enfrentamento de pacientes oncológicos em quimioterapia no Instituto do Câncer São José, integrado ao Hospital São José do Avaí, no município de Itaperuna/RJ. A amostra foi composta por 18 pacientes do sexo masculino, submetidos a quimioterapia. O instrumento para a coleta de dados consistiu em um questionário estruturado, analisando primeiramente as características sociodemográficas, posteriormente os aspectos relacionados à doença e, por fim, foi aplicada a Escala de Religiosidade de Duke (DUREL). Neste estudo, cada uma das escalas foi correlacionada com variáveis sociodemográficas, e verificou-se que os índices foram influenciados significativamente pela idade, escolaridade e renda.pt_BR
