DEPENDÊNCIA QUÍMICA: A DIMENSÃO DA RELIGIOSIDADE NO TRATAMENTO TERAPÊUTICO NO DEJORD – DESAFIO JOVEM RIO DOCE – MG

Abstract

The current relationship between the religious dimension and its influence on the process of recovery of the chemical dependents has been the scene of a great deal of discussion, and for this reason several theorists of the most diverse spheres of science have pointed their studies to the importance of religiosity in this context. The discursion is not closed, but this work has as main objective to weigh the relevance of the theme, that is, the importance of the religious dimension in the recovery of the chemical dependents that integrate the hospitalization regime next to the Rio Doce Youth Challenge - DEJORD de Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais. In order to reach the desired goal, a field research was used, in addition to the bibliography indicated, with a qualitative approach, of the exploratory type, whose source of data collection and analysis was a mixed questionnaire containing objective questions, whose universe was the 30 internal ones of the DEJORD at the time of the act, with a certain sample of 67% of the total universe. From the analysis extracted it can be revealed that the subjects of the research are aged between 18 and 75 years old, all of them male, being that the majority of them are single, have at most high school and are of low income. The sample also identified that the average time of dependence among respondents ranges from 5 to 40 years or more. However, the results show that regardless of their religion, they all believe in God, and therefore believe that religious therapy is great in treating the disease, and it does help in the recovery of addiction. Whether it is by obtaining refuge or reinsertion into society that once excluded them, and especially to help them stay away from drug temptations, all respondents agree that religiousness holds a treatment. Because of this, DEJORD inmates are not opposed to religious practices imposed as mandatory therapy, at which point they seize religious symbols to recover, as this helps them to alleviate the pain inflicted by drugs, keeping them vigilant, bringing peace of mind, renewing and strengthening your body to stop addiction. It was also clear that what motivates DEJORD inmates to accept religiosity as a treatment of dependence is faith and belief in the doctrine of the God of Christianity, namely, God proclaimed by Protestantism, all because they feel renewed spiritually and strengthened by the threats of drugs in their daily lives.
