GÊNERO E RELIGIÃO: MULHERES DA CONGREGAÇÃO CRISTÃ NO BRASIL

Abstract

This dissertation sought to analyze relevant aspects about the relationship between gender and religion, focusing on discrimination against women in the context of the Christian Congregation in Brazil (CCB). The work is organized in three chapters: in the first chapter, bibliographical research was used on the theme: Gender and Religion, focusing on the discrimination of women both in the religious context and in the labor market. In the second chapter, a documentary research was carried out in the Statutes of the Christian Congregation in Brazil showing how its doctrine works. The third chapter deals with the role of women in the CCB context. For this chapter, two types of interviews were conducted: one structured and one unstructured, with the participation of one of the first women of the Christian Congregation in Brazil in the city of Montes Claros, located in the north of Minas Gerais. The purpose of this work was to know the history, origin and foundations of the Christian Congregation in Brazil, which is the oldest Pentecostal denomination in the country, and the importance of the work of women in this church. The interviews showed that, in the perception of CCB women, they perform such important functions as those performed by men.
