| Resumo: | Esta dissertação busca apresentar a comunidade acadêmica o texto Atos de Paulo e Tecla, novela cristã do II século da Era Comum, e perceber como a imagem de Paulo foi retratada nessa literatura cristã. Para tanto, num primeiro momento, identifica essa literatura cristã dentro do gênero discursivo novela antiga. A seguir, apresenta tradução do texto grego Atos de Paulo e Tecla para a língua portuguesa. Por fim, a partir do conceito corpo grotesco de Mikhail Bakhtin em diálogo com a pesquisa de Paul Zanker sobre a função da imagem na antiguidade enquanto afirmação do ideal de virtude defendido pela pólis greco-romana, a kalokagathía, buscar compreender como essa novela contrói e interpreta a imagem de Paulo. |
| Resumo Alternativo: | The aim of this work is to share with the academic community a Portuguese translation of the original Greek text Acts of Paul and Thecla, and in so doing to contribute to the study and research on the image of Paul as portrayed in that century. In order to achieve this goal, as a first step the text was tentatively defined as what is known as ancient novel, of the discursive genre. The study attempts to comprehend how that novel builds and interprets the image of Paul, starting from the concept of grotesque body as proposed by Mikhail Bakhtin, while interacting with Paul Zanker´s ideas on therole of image in the ancient world, viewed as an assertion of the ideal of virtue up held by the Greco-Roman pólis, that is, kalokagathía. |
