Resumo Alternativo: This research analyses the literature of Milton Schwantes with the intention of locating an underlying ecclesiology founded on the organic actions of theologians, particularly biblical scholars, reflecting on the implications of Applied Religious Studies. Starting with a selection and classification of literature produced in the 1970s and 1980s, the theme of ecclesiology in Milton Schwantes is discussed in light of political, economic, social, cultural and ecclesial vibrancy that marked Latin America and favoured the reception of the work at that time. The Gramscian category of organic intellectual and the Freirean perspective of popular education structure the theoretical reference for the analyses and hypotheses raised in this research, above all in relation to the action of organic theologians in the Bible Circles of popular Bible reading in the heart of a prophetic Church with a popular face, with a transformational praxis always directed towards the pastoral. Milton Schwantes is presented as a transgressor of the epistemological boundaries of Religious Studies and Theology, a subversive organic intellectual who does not accept another way of beginning pastoral exegesis if not through pastoral action.  The prophetic Church with a popular face, an ecclesial model that emerges from the literature analysed, shows a necessary alternative, amongst others, capable of mitigating the delirious effects of the fundamentalist project around the Bible in the twenty-first century. The research concludes with a proposal of an outline for implementing a prophetic Church with a popular face, liable to revision, updating and enlarging.

Resumo Alternativo: The research object of this thesis in Sciences of Religious is on the practical implications of Law 10.639/03 on the History and Religious Teaching curricula at the Esther da Costa Santos Municipal Elementary School in Vila Pavão, Brazil. The legislation modified the National Education Guidelines and Framework Law No. 9.394 from Dec. 20th, 1996 to include mandatory teachings on Afro-Brazilian History and Culture. The integration of this legislation in the curricula not only fulfills the legal requirements but also enhances the educational experience of students by promoting comprehensive and respectful understanding of Brazilian historical, cultural, and religious diversities. The research question is centered on the implementation of Law 10.639/03 at Esther da Costa Santos Municipal Elementary School for grades 8-9 in History and Religious Teaching curricula. The motivation for this research is in the empiricism of problem, because it is result of professional teaching practice. This thesis is a qualitative-theoretical-empirical approach which includes exploratory and descriptive elements such as bibliographic and documentary research procedures, interviews on the spot with staff from The Municipal Secretariat of Education (SEME) of Vila Pavão/ES, History and Religious Studies teachers and students of the elementary schools (5th to 8th grades) of the Esther da Costa Santos Municipal Elementary School. The thesis is organized into four chapters that discuss various bibliographies, documents, and interviews. In the first chapter, an attempt is made to contextualise the historical aspects and the formation of the people from northern Espírito Santo, with an emphasis on the municipality of Vila Pavão-ES. The second chapter highlights the importance of the black movement for the construction and implementation of Law 10,639/03. The third chapter outlines the National Common Curricular Base, the curricular components History, Religious Education, and the necessary construction of an education for diversity. The final chapter presents the data and results of the research conducted with teachers and students.The investigative process revealed that the Law 10.639/03 is partially implementing in the investigated school ongoing training on the subject is necessary, involving managers and teaching professionals who work in SEME. Hence, the outcome of the research proposes Dialogue Rounds on Law 10.639/03 with professionals from the SEME of Vila Pavão, aiming at providing continued training for Elementary School teachers.

Resumo Alternativo: Given the increasing number of episodes of violence in educational institutions in Brazil, the promotion of a Culture of Peace in schools has become an urgent need. In this context, this paper proposes a reflection on Religious Education as a pedagogical tool capable of contributing to the pacification of school environments and, consequently, to Public Safety. Thus, the objective of this research is to analyze how Religious Education can foster the Culture of Peace in schools and support the work of the agents of the Municipal Guard of Vila Velha/ES in their pacification function, in partnership with the Department of Education. The methodology adopted consists of field research with semi-structured interviews with teachers and students from the municipal school system, in order to capture perceptions and experiences about violence in schools and the role of Religious Education in this scenario. The qualitative analysis of the data will be complemented by a theoretical review of the concepts of violence, Culture of Peace and legal foundations of Religious Education. The expected results indicate that Religious Education, when worked in a plural, ethical and critical way, can be a significant tool for promoting dialogue, tolerance and peaceful resolution of conflicts, contributing to the construction of safer and more inclusive school environments. The work also proposes a practical guide aimed at security professionals who work in school units, reinforcing the importance of integration between the Education and Public Security sectors in the search for a more just and peaceful society.

Resumo Alternativo: This dissertation examines the challenges of implementing Religious Education in a multiracial and religiously diverse country. It proposes a curriculum framework aimed at combating religious intolerance and promoting equality within the classroom—recognized as a key environment for such educational initiatives. The study explores the complexities surrounding the Religious Education curriculum in Brazil, a nation of continental dimensions, deeply rooted religiosity, and rich cultural diversity. The central research question asks how Religious Education can be instrumentalized to play a leading role in addressing religious intolerance within Brazilian public schools. The theoretical foundation is based on the work of Ivor Goodson, who views curriculum as a form of social praxis, and Paulo Freire, particularly his concept of education as a practice of freedom grounded in dialogue. Through bibliographic, documentary, and exploratory research, the study reveals that while progress has been made in understanding Religious Education’s contributions to a more inclusive and tolerant society, further advancements are needed. The role of a well-qualified educator is emphasized as crucial in bridging regional differences within classrooms prepared for meaningful discourse. The study concludes by presenting a course plan aligned with the BNCC (Base Nacional Comum Curricular), utilizing the Maguerez Arch as its methodological foundation.
